Dementia Care
George Brooker House is a person-centred home where the wellbeing of our residents is paramount. Our professionally trained staff are specialists in dementia care; they recognise the symptoms of dementia and understand how to deal with the condition. We provide a nurturing environment where our residents are cared for with dignity and respect. Staff compassionately attend our residents through the good and bad days of memory loss. The dementia care team appreciate the varying needs of each individual; our dementia care plans are personalised for each resident.

Memory Recognition
Our residents with dementia are able to participate in mainstream activities at the home, particularly those involving music and art - the benefits of which are well researched and documented. We also use a whole host of proven techniques to encourage interaction, including reminiscence sessions and memorabilia cabinets with gentle reminders of yesteryear.
We implemented many special features around the home for our residents comfort, particularly those with dementia. Each bedroom corridor has an individual colour theme to help residents navigate the home. We have also placed personal memory boxes by every bedroom door to help with recognition. All of our toilets and bathrooms have red doorframes to help residents identify these areas.

The East London Extra Care Society has provided quality aged care to the community of Dagenham, Essex for over 20 years. Many members of staff are long serving employees of the home, which is a testament to the fact that they are happy in their work and genuinely care about our residents. We invest in a variety of professional training courses to ensure the highest level of quality care for our residents. All of our carers hold NVQ Aged Care qualifications.
