Dementia Care

George Brooker House is a person centred home where the wellbeing of our residents is paramount. Our professionally trained staff are specialists in dementia care; they recognise the symptoms of dementia and understand how to deal with the condition. We provide a nurturing environment where our residents are cared for with dignity and respect. Staff compassionately attend our residents through the good and bad days of memory loss. The dementia care team appreciate the varying needs of each individual; our dementia care plans are personalised for each resident.

"Thank you for looking after my mum, Louisa, I really appreciated it. She couldn’t have had better care."

Memory Recognition

Our residents with dementia are able to participate in mainstream activities at the home, particularly those involving music and art - the benefits of which are well researched and documented. We also use a whole host of proven techniques to encourage interaction, including reminiscence sessions and memorabilia cabinets with gentle reminders of yesteryear.

We implemented many special features around the home for our residents comfort, particularly those with dementia. Each bedroom corridor has an individual colour theme to help residents navigate the home. We have also placed personal memory boxes by every bedroom door to help with recognition. All of our toilets and bathrooms have red doorframes to help residents identify these areas.

Experience You Can Trust

The East London Extra Care Society has provided quality aged care to the community for over 20 years. We realise how difficult it can be when a loved one has dementia. The team like to work closely with the friends and relatives of our residents; we are always ready to listen and to receive feedback and suggestions. The Dementia Care Team attend an intensive training course accredited by the Alzheimer’s Society that gives guidance in detecting dementia and training on how to deliver appropriate care. Protection of vulnerable adults is a priority and we view it as part of our duty of care.

Not-for-Profit, Quality Aged Care

We are a charitable organisation that reinvests all of our income into the home. Our rates are highly competitive and reflect our charity status.
