Activities
The physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents are of utmost importance to us. Our activity co-ordinator and our carer's ensure that time is spent with every resident and they are encouraged to engage in gentle exercise and meaningful activities. This is to ensure that we promote good health, circulation and strong wellbeing. We provide a varied activity plan throughout the week for our residents’ enjoyment. The daily schedule includes both individual and group activities.
Bus Trip to the local Asda for some shopping
The staff and volunteers organise a number of day trips and outings throughout the year. Special in-house entertainment and events are organised regularly. We also celebrate residents’ birthdays with freshly made cakes from the kitchen, and themed menus mark other important calendar events.
Programme of Events
Our activities schedule for both Residential Care and Dementia Care residents includes:
Doll therapy providing comfort and maternal instinct
Volunteers
We welcome family, friends and volunteers involvement in our activities programme and our outings. We would love to hear from any willing volunteers who can give their time to make a positive difference to our residents’ daily lives. Whether sharing skills, lending a hand, fundraising or simply being there to chat with residents, giving your time can make a real difference. Any practical help or ideas for events are always appreciated. Please contact our activities team here.
Please note: For our residents’ safety and security, all volunteers are subject to a necessary DBS check. George Brooker House meets the associated cost of this.
