Personalised Living
We understand the trauma of giving up a much loved home, therefore, we encourage new residents to bring their treasured belongings with them. Everyone is welcome to personalise their bedrooms with their own small pieces of furniture and familiar items. We want our residents to make our home feel like their home too.
A Real Home from Home
Residents enjoy the privacy of their own bedrooms, located over two floors with a lift. All rooms can be personalised, but as standard, they have a single bed, wardrobe, reading lamp and television. There is a telephone point to connect a privately funded phone line (optional), wi-fi access and emergency call buttons for safety and peace of mind. En-suite bedrooms are available with a washroom and toilet. Others are equipped with a built in washstand with mirror. The home has four modern bathrooms, all of which have assisted baths or wetroom facilities. There are also separate toilets located throughout the home. Staff call buttons and support rails are located in each facility for residents’ safety and convenience.
The House has three pleasant communal areas with high backed, comfortable armchairs where residents can relax, socialise and enjoy television. The largest of these communal areas has an open plan layout with wide windows overlooking the pleasant garden area. This room is at the heart of the home; it is the setting for our group activities and events. The other communal areas are more peaceful and suited for those who like to relax and enjoy quiet chitter chatter among friends. One of those areas are set up for sensory activities and are perfect for those living with Dementia. Mealtimes are enjoyed together in a choice of bright and welcoming dining rooms. To add a true domestic feel to the place, the home has kitchenettes on both floors where residents can get involved in kitchen activities and home baking.
Residents have access to the rear garden area, which is well maintained throughout the year and a perfect venue for our famous parties. The garden has various areas where residents with an interest in gardening can potter and get involved in light work. There is a vegetable patch, raised herb bed that is designed to stimulate senses and a soon to be built outdoor shop. This will provide our resident's with meaningful and purpose filled activities, all thought out to enhance our residents lives. Our outdoor patio furniture provides an ideal setting for alfresco dining in summertime.
Unique Features
We affectionately named our bedroom corridors Rose, Lily, Bluebell, Poppy, Daffodil and Daisy. Each have been decorated to have a friendly, home from home feel. The decor has been thought out with residents in mind, such as individual coloured bedroom doors and pictures of residents when they are younger or simply of their own choosing. This will help our residents living with Dementia to find and recognise where they are.
As a gift for the millennium, a kind supporter of the home, hand painted the glass of a large internal window producing a unique artwork, which adds a beautiful feature to the home.
