New Baby Unit

We’ve recently created a cosy new “baby unit” in the corner of our main lounge. This special space allows our residents to spend time with therapeutic dolls — something far more meaningful than simply “playing.” These dolls can gently awaken deep-rooted feelings of nurture, comfort, protectiveness and maternal instinct, especially for residents living with dementia.

Jean is pictured here holding her baby with such tenderness. She chats away softly, showing a motherly instinct that has never left her.

Shirley carefully settles her baby into a beautiful Moses basket. Watching her wrap the baby warmly and make sure it was safe and snug was a real pleasure.

And here is Gill, gently rocking the cradle. For someone whose world can often feel confusing, being able to engage so naturally and confidently in this familiar, comforting scenario is incredibly powerful.
This is truly meaningful care — moments that bring reassurance, purpose and joy.
