Sponsored Walk
On the 17th May the staff at George Brooker House completed a 12.5 mile sponsored walk to Hainault Forest and Back!
We had amazing support from our friends and relatives, from raising sponsor monies, our very own "butler" Pete (husband of Gill) who drove alongside us, there and back to check we was ok and kept us fuelled with drinks and snacks; Then one of our residents family members (May) had our T-shirts made and printed. Our catering company donated £500 to our worthy cause.
Here we are at one of our "pit stops" where we took the opportunity to have a toilet break and rest our little legs. At this point the weather was thankfully cool and refreshing.
Then we reached the forest itself and the sun decided to make an appearance for the journey back, which added to our now aching, blistered and muddy feet.
After 12.5 miles we made it back and what a welcome. It was lovely to see the residents outside spurring us on for the remaining few steps, all so happy to see us. We managed to raise just over £3000 for our residents funds, which was absolutely amazing.
