VE Day Celebrations
Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 8 May 1945 saw Britain and its Allies formally accept Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender after almost six years of war. This year celebrates the 75th Anniversary of VE day and the Early May Bank holiday was moved to the 8th May to mark the event. This also coincides with the current lockdown that is occurring due the Coronavirus Pandemic. This did not stop the residents and staff enjoying a good old-fashioned knees up and making the best of a sad situation. True war time spirit!
Party Preparations
We had fun making our outfits for the party. We decorated some tops with VE day decoration and had great fun doing so. Needless to say, the paint went everywhere and not just on the tops! Still we enjoyed ourselves and look at the end result! We also put up Red, White and Blue bunting to get us truly in the spirit.
Party Celebrations
Traditionally George Brooker House would hire a singer to entertain the residents however, this time the staff were the entertainers and they done an amazing job! The residents had great fun singing and dancing. There were traditional songs from Vera Lynn and classic dances such as "Superman" and "Is this the way to Amarillo"
As always thanks to everyone, for all they do in ensuring our residents are happy and well cared for! We truly have the most amazing staff and residents!
