Clapping For Our Carers

« News & Events

Thank You

We made the difficult decision to close the home to all visitors on the 16th March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak and the fear we had for our resident's safety and ultimately their lives. So far, we have remained virus free during this period and we thank our lucky stars every day, considering the sad stories we hear, from fellow care homes about their experiences. We understand that the decision to close the home has had an enormous impact on the well-being of our residents and their families and our staff have gone above and beyond to make this difficult time easier for everyone. This post is to give recognition and thanks to all of our staff and their truly amazing commitment, dedication and hard work during this pandemic.

The Best Manager

Margaret Strong, affectionately known as Maggie, is the registered manager of George Brooker House. Maggie has worked very hard and tirelessly to ensure that the risk to the home is reduced where possible. The wellbeing of all of our staff and the residents is at the forefront of her mind and she has been working hands on with the care staff, whilst continuing to fulfil her managerial duties. Maggie is committed to ensuring that our residents, whom the majority are living with Dementia, are well cared for and that any fears and anxieties about not seeing their loved ones are eased.

So, Maggie, all of your team at George Brooker House thank you too!

Our Team

Our brilliant staff come into work each day, having their own fears and anxieties about what their coming day will bring and the threat to the residents and their own families. They do so with a smile on their face and do their utmost to ensure that the care they provide is top notch. As you will see throughout this post, the care and attention they provide are second to none. No amount of training can give you this dedication, willingness to step up and person-centred skill, this has come from the heart and is a talent! Celebrities get recognised for a talent, rewarded with luxury and so should our countries carers! When this pandemic is over, we sincerely hope that the care industry is looked at more than an "unskilled job" and is recognised for all that they have done and for all that they continue to do.

George Brooker House Staff - Thank you all!

Life on Lockdown

Our residents have continued to enjoy activities such as baking.

Our staff have brought their pets in to visit our residents and cheer them up. More of Jess & Bailey on our Facebook page.

We have enjoyed a spur of the moment BBQ from our staff over a hot weekend. The thought and effort from our girls is amazing.

Social Contact

Due to this pandemic, social contact has been restricted for everyone. However, George Brooker House staff have done their utmost for the residents to maintain contact with their families. We have had skype sessions, window visits, telephone calls, parcels of goodies and personal messages sent in from families. All of which can be found on our Facebook page, which is updated regularly. Please follow this page, to see more of our amazing work during this extraordinary time.

Fun, Love and Laughter during a time of crisis

Support and Messages

We have been sent gifts and lovely messages of support from the public and businesses and we at George Brooker House would like to thank each and every one of you for doing so.
